Moving Mayhem

Life is…. well it’s really CRAZY right now. Like maybe even the most crazy it’s ever been in one month for me (without some awful drama or something like that). Last week I went to After Dark which was amazing… I’d spent somewhere around 12 hours absorbing everything I could and come home to pack. Plus my daughter started Kindergarten only she was two districts away until we moved so I was driving her and my other daughter had preschool which I needed to drive her to and my two year old is… a two year old. And he’s very good at it. So last week I was driving all over this whole town and getting lost in-between every stop. And staying up way too late and yet not even close to late enough — I always wanted to stay at After Dark longer but had too much waiting at home for me. So I’d get home to boxes and boxes that needed to be filled. Oh and on Monday I tried something crazy, which I will tell you all about when time returns but the day ended with 42 new clients and a completely full answering machine and inbox to which I can’t access because we have had no internet and my computer was packed. So today is Monday. Over the weekend we moved into our new house, which I am so very excited about except for the fact that I am now surrounded by boxes and boxes only now they are full and I wish they were empty. Oh and did I mention we’re getting a dog today? Don’t ask!

Life is manic at least for a few weeks and so posts may be somewhat sporadic. If you would like to see more posts, you should write one and send it to me! 😉 No I actually do have some scheduled but not as many as I’d hoped to have ready. I have a long list of custom marketing kits and logos to complete so that’s going to be top priority — well that, finding the box with my makeup in it and getting back to all my new clients. So for now, I’m going on the record as being a mess. But when the dust settles, I hope to show you my new studio, new office, have the rest of 2010 booked and find the bus stop (it has to be around here somewhere??) and hopefully I’ll be wearing makeup again cause this is just embarrassing. Oh and I really want to start cooking like I use to – just throwing that out there, you know in case any of you are my fairy godmother and would like to come grant my hearts desire? Which in case you were wondering would be to give me enough time to be a domestic diva in the kitchen with a studio to die for and the skills to match – oh and I’d like mustard colored pumps to go with my 50’s style housewife dress. {Please.}

Just wanted to let you know that for now, I’m in crazy town and organization is the last word you would use to describe me. Please be patient with me, I’m a real gal, typing real keys, feeling real stress and hoping that my gerry-rigged internet won’t fail me before I can hit ‘post’.

Moral to the story… Nobody has it all together and if they say they do, they’re lying. Some are very good and appearing to have it all but always remember, you’re doing pretty great yourself and if you don’t believe me just reread this post.

Happy Monday.

P.S. Heather is MIA. Somewhere between disassembling my computer on Friday and today I haven’t been able to get a hold of her but I will get that resolved asap. I’m sorry to keep you all waiting.

I hope, (and know), you will be able to find sanity again. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for the make-up. (I can’t for the life of me explain why a dustpan could go missing in a move two miles down the road.) And if you need ANYTHING, (a guest post, someone to grab by the shoulders and shake while you scream–through e-mail of course–or a two tickets out of town, let me know.) And don’t forget this whole community who is following you and cheering you on! You can DO it!

  2. Kim Larsen says:

If only I still lived in Portland, I’d come help you out! Congrats on all the new clients, that’s great! Just take everything one step at a time… things will get back to normal soon, and we’ll be right here waiting for you! 🙂

  3. Angela says:

Okay, I thought I was going crazy but you win!! If I were there I would so help!! Sending mental support from miles away. 40 new clients!! You rock!! That’s incredible!
OH, and anytime you need more posts, just holler!!

Oh Leah my dear!…sheesh, I thought the past two weeks were crazy for ME!
Don’t worry, all the millions of us who absolutely love your blog will still love it (if not more!) if you miss a few (even a lot of) posts here and there…it just helps the rest of us who don’t “have it all together” 24/7 feel a little better anyways! 🙂
I wish I could be there to help!
I suggest you go get yourself (no, have SOMEONE ELSE get for you) some expensive sea salt chocolates and put a nice relaxing bath at the top of your ‘to do’ list.
    We all love you!

considering i have only moved once and the only item i had to unpack was the ‘hope chest’ my Mom gave for me, i can’t imagine what you are going through… take your time, deep breaths, we will all still be here when you get back! 😉

I needed to read this today.

  7. Lisa says:

Take your time! We’ll be here waiting for you…take care of all those real-life things that are important.

  8. Morgan says:

Thanks for posting this. It makes me feel better about my life. If only everyone was as honest! Good luck with unpacking and everything on your to do list. I am one of the ones on your logo/marketing kit list. Honestly, if it takes you longer than you had said I wouldn’t mind at all.

  9. Maggie says:

Hey Leah, hang in there! I appreciate your honesty and your funniness too. Okay, maybe funniness isn’t a word, but I like it anyway! Good luck getting settled. Glad I’m not the only one feeling crazy right now.

  10. Oh how I feel your pain!!! You are amazing and we’ll wait around for you to get things back together. I’m still trying to get my life back together after our move. Just a couple days into living here we discovered major water damage/mold in our kitchen so today they are ripping everything out and replacing it. I’ll be without a kitchen for more than 4 weeks and with 4 little kids that’s just, well CRAZY!! Good luck with everything and I can’t wait to see your new studio and to hear about how you got 42 new clients. 🙂
