Our Christmas Cabin in Leavenworth, WA

As I write this, I’m sipping peppermint tea, watching the snow fall from the couch, with my MacBook on my lap. I have to say, It feels pretty magical. I just can’t get over how much I love this little cabin.

Today, I’m excited to share a little more of our little cabin in the pines with you because I thought it would be fun to share how we’ve decked the halls and trimmed the tree ( well sort of – it’s a very simple tree this year since the cabin gets rented through Airbnb). It took some convincing, but the kids finally agreed that we didn’t want all their sentimental ornaments on the tree up here.

Because we are renting our place on Airbnb,  we want to be careful with not going too overboard with the decor. Just a few fun touches to make it festive and bright for the holidays + I’m not one who likes it when put-up or take-down take more than a couple of hours. I’m a little Grinch-like that, but more on that later.

Our tree is super simple with the most beautiful red burlap skirt with pom-pom fringe from The Burlap Cottage. Her shop is amazing!

Don’t mind our crooked star. 🙂

When I was a little girl, putting up Christmas was a full week event. The result was amazing but I remember that week, it was stressful and chaotic, there was a lot of yelling –  so I’ve always had the goal that Christmas is up and down in one day (preferably a half a day)! One of my secret time savers – pillows, the other is art! They are the absolute easiest way to introduce some cheer.

I found these fabulous plaid pillows from Brown Eyed Girls Design, the ‘Baby it’s Cold outside’ pillow from Sweet Hooligan’s Design (both awesome Etsy shops!), I’ve had my furry anchor pillows for years.

We recently shared our fireplace reveal (you can read the full post here). Today I gave it three simple updates. This ‘weary world rejoices’ handmade sign from Carden Made makes my heart happy because it reminds us what the reason for the season is. Next, I made my amazing leather fire log basket by Old Fisher Trees a little more festive with a mini Christmas tree + some fun pom-pom garland. Have I mentioned how much I love this basket? I know I have. 🙂

These shelves are the main space to do any kind of decor for the holidays. Since I wanted to keep it simple, I decided to focus mostly here. I knew for sure I wanted to create a hot chocolate station and a mini village (keeping our big village put away this year). I think we still created quite a bit of magic with only a few touches.

Our Christmas Village this year is a little vintage style Putz House village. They are handmade by One Teaspoon Vanilla and I have to say, this was the most amazing package to open! It felt like it’s own magical Christmas gift with the little houses, the trees, miniature deer and a little Santa! My kiddos were in heaven!

I ended up breaking up my little village through three spots! I put one of the little houses on a Christmas wreath are our black slider door (scroll up to see it), took two of them with several pipe cleaner trees and made a little village (maybe two houses doesn’t quite constitute a village?) and one more saved for another shelf to add some fun and pull it all together.

I got this print, ‘Ski Slopes’ from Etsy artist Rose Jocham, it’s a special one for us because we will be spending tons of time on the slopes this year. Season passes are already here and the cabin is only 30 minutes away.

Our little nativity went into a large jar this year. I’m hoping it will keep it safe from tiny hands that might be staying with us throughout the season. We shall see. 😉

More prints because like I said, I’m all about easy holiday decor and you can’t get much easier than pillows and prints! I made this one and have made it a FREE DOWNLOAD – You can snag it HERE.

I added just a few little touches to the kitchen. I updated the frame with a holiday print. I designed this one too. You can download them both right here.

Another fun pillow! We added some Holiday cheer to the guest room with this cute reindeer burlap pillow by Two Peaches Design. I’m excited to share the full guest bedroom reveal, we just got the hanging bedside tables from TheCraftySwirl (more on that soon).

So there you go, our little cabin in the pines – holiday style! If you’re interested in renting out little cabin (it’s in Leavenworth, WA.) you can find booking details here on Airbnb.
