Video Friday is back! We’ve been filming new episodes and are excited to get back on track. We are finally starting to feel pretty moved-in (I think I’m down to 3 boxes!); routine is forming again, and I gotta say, it feels GREAT!
This week we celebrated Take Your Child to Work Day… In honor of the special day, I have a very very special guest helping me cover today’s topic! My 8-year-old, Adilyn, will be helping me discuss how to keep that work/life balance thing.
If you haven’t realized this yet, we’re really into work/life balance… In fact, that’s why The Thriving Photographer™ is called The Thriving Photographer. I believe that while making great money is definitely fun, you’re only thriving when you’re living the life you love. And let’s face it… when mama’s off-balance – life just isn’t the party we want it to be.
I hope you enjoy this week’s episode! Thank you so much for tuning in! Be sure to drop in your name and email below (or above!) this post so that you’ll get each new episode delivered to your inbox.
🙂 cute… And so true!
Awesome job Adilyn! Your mom is always so helpful, thanks for helping her today, I learned a lot again! My son Parker is 3 and he kept saying “hi!!” to you. He will also appreciate all your tips. Thanks again!!
Awwww LOVE the tips and video, Adilyn!! I sure did love being able to photograph you and your family in Florida a few weeks ago 🙂 Make us some more videos soon!

This is great Leah. I will be working really hard to incorporate this advice:) Your daughter is adorable.
So fun! Love it! And great tips too. 🙂
Helpful and made me smile! Adilyn – you rocked it, girl!
What a cutie! And as always…SO incredibly helpful and honest reminders! I needed that today! *And what a beautiful and talented helper…I think Leah might have some competition…;)*
Great tips! You also have a very talented assistant. I hope we can see more of her. 🙂
Great job Adilyn! I hope to see you again on another video =)
Love the tips on the 5 “to do’s” I like that much better than trying to cram in EVERYTHING and then feeling a ton of disappointment when I can’t get them done.
Great Job Adilyn!
Ahhh, you two are SO adorable!! I’m so glad Adilyn got to be in this video – it was perfect!! I hope your other littles get to participate soon too!
Adilyn, that was awesome! You made me smile!
You just CAN’T fire Adilyn!
Adilyn, you were awesome on the video! Your Mama is lucky to have such a good assistant! ;P I vote more Adilyn!
🙂
That was wonderful! Adilyn is such a great assistant and a natural behind the camera. I did have a question about your work hours, Leah, how do you photograph families during the hours that your children are in school? I would love to only work while my kids are gone, but unfortunately after school or weekends are the only logical time to do pictures with families that have school aged kids!
Thanks…
Great question Joy! Obviously I’m not shooting at 8pm. LOL I do shoots on Saturdays, usually in the mornings and I’ll do my Senior sessions always at dusk so that could be a Saturday evening or weeknight.
Another trick is that I often schedule sessions back to back so that it’s not every weekend.
For example, at peak season – I’ve been known to put 5 to 6 sessions back to back. It sounds crazy but it works well for me! 🙂
This is JUST what I need to hear right now. Thank you!!
This was so much fun to watch. Adilyn, you have a bright future! Thanks Leah for the wonderful advice.
Okay, I see! Thanks for the response.
You’re so welome! 🙂
Adilyn! Ellie and I have been cracking up over your response to what it’s like to have a photographer as a mom!!! {Ellie has asked to see it over and over!} We think you are fabulous in front of the camera and were such a wonderful assistant for your mom! We love and miss you!!!
ADORable!! loved it leah and Adilyn!
