Q&A… About Me

A few weeks ago, I put it out there to let you guys ask questions about me… Today I’m answering and I thought I’d show you our family pictures that Yana K. (an amazing photographer that I’ve had the pleasure of mentoring) took for us over Thanksgiving.

I’m having this made as a 20×30 framed print to be put in our front room.

How many siblings do you have?

I have one full sister, Jenna who is also my best friend in the whole world and one half sister, Kianna but I call her Kiwi who is 13 years younger then I am and one half brother who is 10 years older than me. I also have two sisters who are not really my legal sisters at all but to me, they are family! I know – it’s a mess.

What did you like most/least about growing up?

I always wanted to be an adult. I didn’t like childhood very much and hated how powerless I always felt. My best childhood memories of myself, Jenna and our two (technically not really) sisters, Kim and Kristen. We were always making up the most wonderful adventures.

Did you attend school for photography?

Yes and no. I did take a college class after I started my business but I didn’t really feel like I learned much. I would say I am internet taught more then anything else.

What would be your biggest tip for newbies?

Make a plan. Sit down and create goals. Dream huge and make a plan for 5 years from now… Get it all out on paper so that you can see where you need to start. I jumped in head first without even remembering to close my eyes and although I’m happy with the results, I think the fall could have been a lot more graceful!

Sweet or salty?

Sweet and Salty! My current favorite treat is sea salt caramels!

What is your weakness???

I’m not sure where to even start, I have a lot of them! Double Stuffed Mint Oreos, when my husband wants something, when a client says please but I should say no, anything where someone does or says something kind – I always cry! Admitting I don’t know something, being patient, folding laundry.

What are the three most played songs on your iPod?

I listen to music while I edit but if I’m out and about I listen to audio business books. Right now I’m loving Michelle Featherstones, ‘We are Man and Wife’ and ‘Sweet, Sweet Baby’ as well as ‘Gravity’ by Sara Bareilles and ‘Lucky’ by Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat. And when I’m out and about I’m listening to The Referral Engine by John Jantsch.

If you had a day all to yourself, no work or family around, a day just to you, what would you do for the day?

I would love to tell you I’d be out shopping and getting a spa treatment and all that awesome stuff and even though it’s what pops in my head first what I’d really probably do is sit in my office. I’d catch up on all the blog posts, and e-books I’ve been wanting to read, I’d watch all the video seminars I’ve purchased but never had time to see. I’d write a bunch of posts and be ahead of the game for both blogs. And I’d finish by cleaning and organizing my house… And when all of that was done and I was happy with my progress I would eat at least one whole Dungeness crab with a stick of melted frothy butter and then crawl in bed to watch a great chick flick.

Do you have any Christmas traditions that you can’t live without?

I actually don’t think we have to many. I’ve rode on the Seattle carousel almost very year since I was a kid and now we take our own kids and Taylor and I have always cut down our own tree (outside of the years we lived in Hawaii). But as a whole we seem to make new memories all the time. I guess life didn’t stay the same long enough to keep to many traditions.

What are you getting your kids for xmas? Any toy that we should know about and what is on your wish list this season?

My kids get so much from our family that I don’t go too crazy. All I start thinking about is how much new stuff is going to be coming into our home and that I will have to find places for it. I dream of being a minimalist. One gift I’m really excited about for them is a jump-house. It’s not huge and can be put up in the garage giving them a wonderful opportunity to exercise during the Northwest rainy months and of course it’s great in the backyard in the summer. I can never think of anything I want. I did ask for square appetizer plates and white cocktail napkins… Oh and a 100 Macro but I don’t see Santa stuffing that one in my stocking.

If you could photograph any person in the world, past or present, who would it be and why??

Each of my kiddos when they were babies. I wasn’t a professional photographer yet and I don’t have many pictures of them. With our youngest, we don’t have anything before he is 4 months old because I dropped our hard-drive when we were moving from Hawaii to Portland.

I hope you feel like you’ve gotten to know your Go{4}Pro Gal a little better. Thank you for asking and wanting to get to know me better. I hope you all have a wonderful and inspiring Christmas with opportunities in abundance to serve and spread love. Merry Christmas!
