Leah: [00:00:00] Hey friend, it’s Leah, and today we’re diving into one of the most frustrating parts of being a mom in business. That is when you are working so hard and still feeling like you are standing in the same spot. If you know, you know, you are showing up and you’re trying and you’re checking the boxes, but somehow it just doesn’t feel like you’re getting ahead.
If you’ve ever thought, I’m doing all. Things, why isn’t it working? This episode is for you, and it’s time to exhale. Okay? So here’s the truth. You are not lazy, you’re not unorganized, and you are not incapable. You are just. Missing a system. How do I know this? Because it used to be me. Because I know for a fact I was not lazy.
I was working my booty off and I was trying to be so organized and I was certainly capable. I was just missing the [00:01:00] systems to be able to. Feel good in my business, and as a mom, when you have the right systems, everything starts to click. And what’s so amazing is that as I started placing these systems in my business.
Not only did I have more time, which honestly was its own thing, I had to work through having time and feeling okay about it. I, I’ll explain that later and why and where that was coming from, but I also got to see that I wasn’t losing any profitability. In fact, I was more profitable. I was able to get more clients because I had all of these systems working in the background when I wasn’t.
What I know is that when we have systems in our business, the right systems, your days run smoother, your income becomes more consistent, and you finally feel like you are the one running your business and not the other way around. I. [00:02:00] One of my clients, and I will never forget this, after implementing all of the different systems she shared with me that she had always felt like a faux business owner.
She felt like she was a fake, she was the dupe version, and she said, for the first time, I actually feel like a CEO. That is what I want for us. I think that there are so many of us who feel that same way, who relate. It feels like everybody else seems to have it figured out. They seem to know something that you don’t, and that thing is having those systems in place that help you to have the confidence to know that your business is running the way that it should even when you’re not there.
So let’s start here with something I really wish someone would’ve told me years and years ago, and that is that motion and momentum are not the same thing. Motion is when you are doing okay. Momentum is when you’re [00:03:00] moving forward. They look similar, but they feel wildly different. When I was first building my business, I was in constant motion.
I was replying to. Every email redesigning my logos, my sales pages, my freebies, tweaking my web website copy all the time, creating endless freebies. You guys, the collection of freebies that I have is ridiculous. It is. It’s insane. So many I was exhausted, but not necessarily expanding. And more important than that, I was doing a ton of work, but not seeing great results.
I was constantly just, let’s try a new thing. Oh, let’s throw it at the wall. Let’s make something new. Oh, didn’t work, Kay. Let’s make something completely different. New. I mean, this was happening all the time. And research from Harvard Business School actually backs up what was happening, which is that busyness gives us a full sense of progress.
It [00:04:00] releases the dopamine so we feel productive even when we’re just spinning in circles. And that’s what I was doing. I constantly felt. Productive because, oh, I’ve made a new thing. I’ve thrown it out there. But so much of it was actually an absolute waste of time and energy because it wasn’t getting any results.
So I’m really just swimming around in circles over and over instead of actually making the lap and getting to the end of the pool and being able to be like, woo, look what I’ve done. That’s the trap so many moms fall into, especially when you’re juggling kids, clients, and, you know, maybe a basket or two of laundry We end up equating effort with results, but effort without direction is just noise. you’ve done this before where all the effort was there, but you didn’t see results. So what’s missing? This is what I call the system gap. It’s the space between working hard and actually moving forward, and [00:05:00] the only thing that fills that gap is structure.
Structure does not mean rigid or hustle. You know, I am not about the hustle culture, but it means you know what matters. When to do it and how it gets done. So you finally stop Reid a hundred things every single day. When you put the systems in place, your business truly gets lighter. You gain mental space.
You finally feel the clarity that you’ve been chasing. It’s exactly what that client of mine said. She was no longer the foe. Business owner, she had that confidence. She knew she was doing the right things at the right time in the right places. So let’s talk about how to do that, because I want this episode to feel like a mini workshop for you.
Here are three simple shifts that turn motion into momentum for you. Number one, [00:06:00] plan less, systemize more. Most entrepreneurs think that the answer is a better planner. It’s some sort of better, either a physical planner or some virtual organization system.
It’s not. It is a better process when you have repeatable steps for onboarding clients, for creating content, for managing your work, for structuring your podcast. You get your time and your brain power back. Number two, focus on the 20% that moves the 80%. This is the Pareto principle where it says that 20% of what we do.
Produces 80% of the results. Remember how I told you I’m just throwing a new thing out there. I’m trying to make a new freebie or a new training or a new product, and I’m just throwing things all over the place and it’s taking up so much energy and so much time. [00:07:00] When I really began to focus in on what is actually bringing in money, what is actually making income?
And then focused in there and let the rest of it go. Now, instead of focusing on a hundred percent of the things all the time, I’m only focusing on 20% of the things, and yet my results are wildly better.
That means that 80% of what’s on your to-do list. Optional. Your job is to identify your profit driving 20 and double down there. Number three, stack systems not stress. Every time you create a system, you remove a decision, and decisions are what drain our energy the most. When you are going through every single day, having to make.
Hundreds, thousands of decisions. It is exhausting. Decision fatigue is real. So what I want you to do is I want you to think of it like [00:08:00] this. Each system is a gift you give your future self. It’s one less thing to think about. One more space for creativity, for family, for rest. And this is amazing because what happens is as you implement each new system.
You create more time freedom in your day. You stack enough of these systems and suddenly you are seeing a level of time freedom that is just incredible. Then the new goal is how to help yourself not feel guilty about having that time, and that’s what I was talking about at the beginning as I started implementing systems into my business.
This was about 14 years ago. All of this time starts opening up, and I didn’t really know what to do with it because I had become kind of obsessed with that whole feeling productive, even when I wasn’t actually productive. So when things were just working and I’m sitting down and I’m like, wait, I don’t [00:09:00] have a to-do list that is a hundred items long.
I don’t actually have. These pressing things that have to happen right now and there’s all this urgency and put out the fire. Those started disappearing and I didn’t really know what to do with myself. Like, I felt like, oh my gosh, am I not being a good business owner? Uh, no. I was finally, finally getting it right and I opened up that time and it was so beautiful because I started to really think about, wait, what are my core values and where do I wanna spend this time instead?
And for me personally, some of those things were being in each of my kids’ classrooms once a week. So every single one of ’em, I would be in there for an hour. There’s three of them. I made it sound like there’s like 10. There was three, but I would be in each of their class for an hour. So one day it would be like three full hours.
I would just be at the school and I loved it. I will say, I’m gonna tell you, like I’m absolutely gonna gonna give a shout out. Like being in the classroom isn’t for everybody. But what I found is I got to see a side of my little [00:10:00] people that I had never seen before. We think we know them, you know, inside and out, but they show up different at school.
And so there’s the way that they show up at home, which is their safe place and you know, everything is so comfortable. And then getting to see them at school, it was like, oh, okay, I didn’t. Know this about them. We, I’m gonna help them work on this. And it was just such a gift, such an amazing experience that I’m so grateful I had.
And I got to do that throughout the entire time the kids were in elementary school because these systems were in place and I had the time. Another really fun thing that I had the time for after I built all the systems and implemented them into my business was every single week while my kids were in elementary school, I had a meeting with Sage.
So it just said meeting with sage at noon or one on Wednesdays, and it was a massage that’s, it was like my code for massage. It was amazing. It was so wonderful. So I was [00:11:00] able to open up more space for going out to lunch with girlfriends, being in my kids’ classroom, actually being on top of keeping my home managed and feeling good because.
I had the time to get the laundry through. Plus I have systems for every single part of my home as well, but it just, oh my gosh. I just don’t know how to convey what putting systems into your business can do for how you feel and how you show up in your life for yourself. First of all, because when we can show up better for ourselves, we show up better for everybody else, for your business and your goals and your dreams, and then for all the people that you love.
I mean, it’s just, it’s incredible.
Now this is exactly what we do inside Mom, MBA Mom Business Academy is [00:12:00] created for every entrepreneurial mama who is craving a business that feels lighter, more organized, and actually works. We have been talking about Mom Business Academy in LR Insiders all week because we have three really special bonuses happening right now, one of which is a live training that will be happening this Friday, and then the replay will go inside Mom Business Academy.
So this is only for, I call my mom Business Academy members. I call ’em my mambas. There’s an entire story about this. Mambas have a very special place in my heart from when I was in junior high. I won’t go into that whole story right now, but my mambas, they come into mom MBA and they get four tracks [00:13:00] more time.
More money, more visibility, and more reach. And as they go through each track, they’re implementing the systems for every single area of their business. Now, there might be things in there that you don’t even need yet, because I’ve got things about podcast, guessing about starting your podcast. I have everything about building out your 12 month marketing plan.
I have everything to audit and make sure your branding and your messaging is on point. I, of course, have everything on the time track about. Increasing your productivity, building your systems, stacking your systems, time management. It’s all there
with Mom Business Academy, you reclaim your time with plug and play systems and scripts and everything you could need. You simplify how you attract and serve clients and. Most important to me is that you build a business that supports your family instead of competing with it as mamas who own businesses.
The [00:14:00] hardest, most painful part about being a mom entrepreneur is that competition. It’s that feeling of when you’re working, you feel like you should be with your family and with your family. You’re thinking about all the things that work still needs from you and that are falling behind. It is a horrible feeling, and that can happen maybe once, rarely, but if that is your every day, you have to fix this because it is going to drag you down.
Now, right now, mom Business Academy, special launch week bonuses, and they are open, but they do go away on Friday.
Okay, so the first thing we have that I’ve been hinting to is that on Friday we have a live training inside Mom Business Academy. That is design your balanced and profitable 2026. This is a live workshop where I’m going to help you map out your entire 2026 plan around our four MBA pillars. More time, more money, [00:15:00] more reach, and more visibility.
That one. Right there is going to be so valuable and so amazing because you get to walk away knowing exactly what to focus on next year for growth without that burnout. Number two, the chat. GPT Advantage Masterclass. So you’ve heard me on this podcast talk about chat, GPT Accelerator that is inside Mom Business Academy.
Number three, I mentioned all the systems that I also have in my home. Oh yeah. That training is also inside Mom Business Academy, and I’m gonna tell you about one final bonus that isn’t going to be told to. LR Insider, so the newsletter until tomorrow, but I’m going to tell you right now, and that is that you will also get a 60 minute private one-on-one Kickstarter coaching call with me, so that I can help you look at everything that’s happening in your business, what your goals are, and really tailor a plan even [00:16:00] within Mom Business Academy.
I’m gonna help you tailor it even more specifically to what you need most right now, so that you’re. First 90 days can be exactly what you need so that you can truly see the shifts that you are craving.
So if you’ve been telling yourself there has to be an easier way, there is, you do not need to hustle harder. You need frameworks that actually support the life that you’re building. Now, that is true no matter what. I would love to help you with that Inside Mom Business Academy, and I hope that you’ll join me.
But no matter what, I need you to hear that you don’t need to hustle harder. We as moms. We have to do things differently because that is the only way that we are going to be able to feel great in our businesses and motherhood. So you need frameworks that actually support what you’re building. And let me just be clear.
We’re not just building businesses, we are building families also. [00:17:00] Before you go, remember this, you are not behind. You are just building without the blueprint and that is fixable. If you want to be part of Mom BA, I would love that. Oh my gosh. I would love to welcome you. The link is going to be in the show notes, but you can also go to mb balancing busy.com.
I’ll say it again. Mb balancing busy.com. Okay, mama. This is the last thing that I need you to hear. You’ve already proven that you can work hard now. It is time to learn how to work smart sustainably, joyfully, and in alignment with your life. Because balance isn’t found. It’s built and it’s built one system at a time.
I can’t wait for you to join me inside Mom Business Academy. I will be ready and here to cheer you on, to support you, to help you, and to show you a better, [00:18:00] simpler, more joyful way to do business and mom at the same time.
