Ever feel like your bag is a black hole where everything disappears? Studies have shown over and over that physical clutter can lead to a cluttered mind, increasing stress and making it harder to find what you need. But did we really need a study to tell us that? Of course not, we can feel it! Today’s micro-shift is a quick and satisfying way to reclaim control: declutter your bag!

Your Challenge: Declutter Your Bag or Purse

Choose a bag (purse, work bag, backpack, etc.).

  • Dump everything out!
  • Toss the trash, unnecessary receipts, and anything you don’t need.
  • Reorganize the remaining items so everything has its place.

That’s it! A simple task that can have a surprisingly big impact.

This is my bag, I love having this organizer in it! It definitely helps me keep my bag from turning into a bottomless pit.

  • Research suggests that clutter negatively impacts our cognitive function and ability to focus.
  • A feeling of control over our environment can reduce stress and increase feelings of well-being.
  • Small, manageable tasks are more likely to be completed, creating a sense of accomplishment and momentum.

Make This Shift Stick

  • Set a timer for 10 minutes. This will keep you focused and prevent the task from dragging on.
  • Consider using bag organizers or inserts. These can help you keep everything in its place.
  • Make it a habit. Aim to sort your bag once a week to prevent clutter from building up.
