Mental health, physical health, emotional well-being, spiritual alignment—these are the truths every woman needs to hear, that real balance is about so much more than a number on the scale.
Welcome back, friends! I’m Leah Remillet, and this is part two of one of the most powerful conversations we’ve ever had on the Balancing Busy podcast. If you haven’t yet listened to part one with the incredible Heather Creekmore, you need to go do that first—trust me, it’s a mic-drop moment kind of episode.
In part one, we tackled the tangled lies of diet culture and the way media distorts our perception of what health—and worth—really looks like. In this episode, we’re diving deeper into what we can actually do about it. Get ready for real talk on emotional, physical, mental, and spiritual well-being… because true health starts from the inside out.
✨ Spoiler alert: it has nothing to do with willpower, restriction, or chasing “toned arms.”

Meet Heather Creekmore (In Case You Missed It…)

Heather Creekmore is a body image coach, speaker, author, and host of the Compared to Who? podcast. She’s been through the trenches of body shame, eating disorders, and relentless comparison—and she’s come out the other side full of grace and truth.
Heather’s mission is to help women find freedom—freedom from the mirror, the scale, and the unrealistic ideals we’ve all been chasing. She helps us trade body shame for confidence, and anxiety for peace. And she’s not afraid to say the hard things that lead to healing.
A Quick Recap from Part 1
In Part 1, we talked about:
- The difference between your body and your body image (spoiler: it’s all in your head!)
- Why chasing age ideals is keeping us stuck—and exhausted.
- How diet culture has fed us decades of dangerous misinformation.
- And the shocking truth about calorie counting (1500 a day = mental health crisis?? 😱)
If you haven’t heard it yet, go queue it up. You’ll never look at diet trends the same way again.
Stop Chasing the Mirror—Start Chasing the Feeling
Here’s what Heather said that completely stopped me in my tracks:
“You can’t exercise your way to happiness.”
Let that sink in.
We’ve been taught to believe the opposite—that if we finally look a certain way, we’ll feel a certain way. That confidence, joy, and self-worth are waiting on the other side of weight loss or the perfect body. But here’s the truth: you don’t become happy because you’re thin. You become happy because you start living in alignment with what actually matters to you.
So instead of asking, “How do I want to look?”—start asking, “How do I want to feel?”
Do you want to feel strong? Energized? Free? Connected? Then let that guide your choices. That is real health. That’s the kind of balance that sustains.
Because while we’ve been investing our time, energy, and money into shrinking ourselves… we could’ve been using it to build the big, beautiful life we actually want.

When Food and Body Thoughts Take Over—It’s Time to Reach Out
And here’s something else we need to talk about—something that’s often hidden behind the smiles and wellness talk: disordered eating and body obsession.
Sometimes the signs are subtle. It’s not always extreme or obvious. It can look like constant food rules. Or an inability to rest without guilt. Or measuring your day by how “on track” you were.
If food, movement, or body thoughts are consuming your mental space, it’s a sign that something deeper is going on. That’s not freedom. That’s not balance.
And you don’t have to navigate it alone.
There is help. There is healing. And there is no shame in asking for support—only strength. You’re not broken. You’re not failing. You’re just buried under messages that were never yours to carry.
You deserve to be free.
True Connection > Fake Perfection
Here’s the part that blew my mind (and my heart wide open):
Community is a stronger predictor of longevity than smoking.
Wait, what? Yep! Heather shared that the reason we’re seeing skyrocketing rates of anxiety and depression is simple: we’re lonelier than ever.
We’ve traded deep connection for curated perfection. We scroll, but we don’t talk. We post, but we don’t share. And we’re suffering for it.
So what’s the answer?
📖 Go to your book club.
📞 Call your sister.
☕ Invite a friend for lunch.

You need real people in your corner—people who don’t care about the size of your jeans but love the size of your heart.
The more you’re seen, heard, and held in authentic connection, the more your worth becomes rooted in who you are, not how you look.
💛 Heather’s Challenge to All of Us
Start asking yourself:
- How do I want to feel in my life?
- Who are the people I can be real with?
- What if my value has nothing to do with my weight or my age?
It’s time to step into a healthier, more whole version of ourselves—not one that’s filtered, photoshopped, or starving—but one that is joyful, connected, and balanced.
This was one of the most important conversations I’ve had on Balancing Busy. Because let’s be honest… when we spend all our time and energy trying to look a certain way, there’s not much left for what really matters.
It’s time to stop hustling for your worth and start receiving it.
So here’s your permission slip, friend:
✨ Eat the food.
✨ Ditch the guilt.
✨ Embrace your community.
✨ Feel your feelings.
✨ Live the life.
This is balance. This is freedom. This is what it really means to be healthy.
