LISTEN ON YOUR FAVE PLATFORM: Apple // Audible  // Spotify

On this episode of the Balancing Busy podcast, I had the privilege of sitting down with the incredible Kennisha Griffin. Kennisha is the epitome of a mompreneur. As a mother of seven, and the founder of Create and Blossom—a company that helps aspiring authors write and publish their books—she has truly mastered the art of balancing motherhood and entrepreneurship. Her journey of raising both babies and a business at the same time is nothing short of inspiring.

We had such a rich and engaging conversation that I decided to split it into two parts, so stay tuned for part two! But for now, let’s dive into what Kennisha shared about her experiences, the challenges she faced, and the mindset shifts that helped her along the way.

Meet Kennisha Griffin

Kennisha Griffin is a mom of 7 and an entrepreneur who runs Create and Blossom, a company dedicated to helping writers get their books published. With over 17 years of experience in the publishing industry, she is passionate about creative writing and has built a successful career doing what she loves—all while raising seven kids. Yep, you heard that right—seven kids! Ranging in age from two to sixteen, Kennisha’s family life is full and busy, but she wouldn’t have it any other way. She brings her children along for the ride, incorporating them into her entrepreneurial journey, showing that it’s possible to be both a present mom and a thriving business owner.

Choosing Entrepreneurship as a Mom of Seven

Kennisha’s entrepreneurial journey began during a life-changing moment—when she was placed on bed rest during her pregnancy. Instead of letting the situation hold her back, Kennisha used the opportunity to reignite her passion for writing. She began to explore the world of publishing, and soon, a business idea was born. What started as a creative outlet soon evolved into Create and Blossom, her thriving publishing company.

Her story is a testament to the idea that even when life throws challenges your way, there’s always room for creativity and growth. Kennisha never let the fear of juggling motherhood and business ownership stop her; instead, she embraced it, showing that it’s possible to have both dreams and a family.

The Dance of Raising a Family and Running a Business

With seven kids- you have to be intentional and creative when it comes to succeeding at both running a business and raising a family. I really loved the different ways that Kennisha is making it work by bringing her kids along on her entrepreneurial journey. Whether it’s taking her little ones to workshops or having them by her side during speaking events, she found ways to integrate family life into her business.

So often we want to completely shift gears from mother to business women, but she wasn’t afraid to show up with her children in tow, and she made it work by setting expectations with her clients and audience. Her ability to adapt, even with a growing family, is proof that motherhood and entrepreneurship don’t have to be at odds—they can go hand in hand.

The Pressure to Always Be Moving Forward

One of the most relatable parts of our conversation was when Kennisha opened up about the pressure she felt to always be achieving more. Oh boy, can I relate to that!

As a business owner, she wanted to see constant growth—new clients, new opportunities, and new projects. It’s a feeling many of us, myself included, know all too well. The belief that if we’re not constantly seeing forward movement, we’re somehow failing.

But Kennisha has learned the importance of slowing down and being present. Something that I spent the summer learning, and she realized that success doesn’t always mean constant hustle. Sometimes, it’s about being a good steward of what you already have, refining your systems, and being fully present with your family.

Slowing Down and Being Present

As someone who’s constantly balancing a full plate, Kennisha is now focusing on slowing down and appreciating the present moment. She shared a powerful insight: her kids, especially her youngest, remind her daily of the importance of being present. When her little ones ask her to put her phone down and play, she listens.

For Kennisha, slowing down doesn’t mean giving up on her goals; it means making space for what matters most—her family.

Her journey of learning to pace herself, rather than always chasing the next big thing, is something we can all relate to. It’s about balancing ambition with presence and learning that growth doesn’t always have to be fast. Sometimes, the most meaningful progress happens when we pause and reflect.

Kennisha Griffin’s story is a beautiful reminder that motherhood and entrepreneurship don’t have to be mutually exclusive. You can raise a family while building a successful business—you just have to be willing to embrace the journey, stay flexible, and remember to be present in the moments that matter most.

Make sure to tune in for part two of our conversation, where Kennisha will dive even deeper into the strategies and lessons she’s learned along the way.
