Vibrant and Energetic at Every Age with LeNae and Dr. Trip Goolsby (Ep 40)

LISTEN ON YOUR FAVE PLATFORM: Apple // Audible  // Google

Is it possible to feel great as we age? Or do we need to recognize and accept that as we get older, we’re losing that pep in our steps?  As we hit each new decade, can we still have the same vibrancy and energy?

This is one of the questions that I have wrestled with over the last couple years, especially after hitting 40.  I went to the founders of Infinite Health Integrative Medical Center Center in New Orleans, Lanae and Dr. Trip Goolsby to understand the right way to optimize our health as we age.

I really want to understand as a woman who is aging, how can I age more gracefully? How can I maintain my energy (or even increase it) and how can I do to help my body perform optimally for as long as possible?

This episode will help:

👉  Anyone create a medical mastermind for yourself
👉 Busy moms create a visualization of what optimal health looks like
👉 Each of us realize the power of our thoughts on our overall health

In this episode:

3:10 Creating an image of what optimal health looks like for you
6:42 What is having a negative impact on our health
8:46 What role are hormones playing?
15:32 Creating a Medical Mastermind
18:55 Power of our thoughts when it comes to our health
22:09 It’s not selfish to prioritize your health

What does optimal health look like for you?

When it comes to our health we should be approaching it proactively instead of reactively. So often, we wait until something is wrong to go see a doctor or to seek out professional help.

Being proactive plays a big role in staying in optimal health as we age. I think about our cars. We take them in regularly for oil changes, tune ups, etc to keep them running well and hopefully stay on the road as long as possible. We need that same approach for our health.

Instead of waiting until something is clearly wrong, we can take a different approach. You know I am a big fan of visualization and I think applying this practice to our health could be a game changer.

What does optimal health look like for you and how could you start creating an action plan for that vision now?

Here’s what I know… I don’t want a steady decline until I’m just existing. I want to be going, really going until one day – my time is done.

Creating a Medical Mastermind

I love this concept of creating my own medical mastermind and I’m starting to think that maybe I need to stop believing that one single doctor could have all the answers.

A medical mastermind is a group of practitioners who work together with you (and each other) to get you to that optimal health vision that you have created for yourself. This group is going to be unique to each of us, and our needs.

Who would you love to have on your own, unique to you, mastermind council?

Your PCP (primary care provider), a natural approach doctor? A Chiropractor? Hormone specialist, massage therapist (oh, definitely!!), dermatologist, a psychologist? A Personal Trainer or dietician? A Life Coach? Who?

Our heath is not made up of just one thing. It’s not just our hormones (although those play a HUGE role) or our liver, thyroid, heart, etc.

We’ve got a lot going on and if we can put together a team of people to help us live and age gracefully, then we’re going to be ahead of the game.

But each person’s mastermind council would be different. Where I would focus is different from my husband and even a friend. It will vary from person to person and based on their needs. This is why your first step is creating your optimal health vision, it’s only then that we get clarity on who to include in our masterminds.

The Power of our thoughts

I am such a believer in the power of our thoughts and it’s no different when it comes to our health.

Our brain is so powerful and obedient. If you say, give me proof that I cannot do this, it runs to the filing system that is our memories and it starts looking through all the files and it says, oh yes, remember this time you failed and, and here’s the proof.

But if we shift that and we say, give me proof that I can. It runs to that same filing system that is our memories and experiences and it says, okay, here’s the times where it did work out, you were okay!

We have to choose which one we’re going to go to. Are we going to go to the doom and gloom and look for why it’s not gonna work? Which is can be a self-fulfilling prophecy. Or are we going to go toward optimism and that belief that it can work out?

What could happen if we applied these thoughts to our health?

I can be energetic! Vibrant! Healthy! Strong! Pain-Free! Or do we just shrug our shoulders and say, well I guess this is just what getting older looks and feels like, nothing I can do that there are answers out there that can help me! …That I can actually enjoy getting older!

I think one of the biggest takeaways for me is that we have to be proactive. We have to realize that if we want to keep pouring into others, hitting goals, and experiencing new things – we have to take time now to prioritize our health!

And I get it, when we are building businesses and raising families, it is so easy to put ourselves on the back burner. But speaking as someone who ended up in an ambulance, don’t wait until you break to prioritize your health.
